Prendiamo per esempio
quello diffuso Venerdi' 9 Novembre 2001
( e ripetuto il 14 ) dalla RAI ,
nei quali si afferma :
`' in base alle fonti accessibili ...
al momento alla RAI non risulta un
coinvolgimento della Societa' Dallah
Albaraka con l' inchiesta sul
terrorismo condotta dalle Autorita'
Statunitensi , ovvero con le indagini
riguardanti il network finanziario di
Osama Bin Laden . ''

Che significa `' in base alle fonti
accessibili `' ? Kevoddi'
`' al momento `' ?
Un po' esitante come messa a punto no ?
Comunque meglio di ggggniente . Meglio
del silenzio , o almeno della grande e
circospetta discrezione , che da anni
circonda la partnership fra la
RAI e il gruppo Arabo Dallah Albaraka ,
di cui e ' azionista di riferimento lo
Sceicco Saudita Sleh Abdullah Kamel .

Siccome e' una storia complicatine , ma
INTERessante , e promette gustosi
sviluppi , proviamo a raccontarla dall'
inizio , avendo fatta prima qualche
ricerca ; e magari semplificando un
po' lecose per renderla meno sdelegna.

Su il sipario . Il 2 Novembre 2001 il
Wall Street Journal WSJ scrive che l' FBI
e la CIA , ( si stan rompendo la testa per
individuare i canali finanziarj che
alimentano la organizzazione di Osama Bin
Laden , AL QUAEDA ) han messi gli occhj
sul Gruppo Industriale Saudita Dallah
Albaraka , una conglomerata da un bel po'
di miliardi di Dollari , presente in
settori numerosi dalle banche alle
assicurazioni , alle costruzioni al
broadcasting radiotelevisivo .
Qualcuno , sempre secondo il Wall Street
Journal , ipotizza che alcune banche
partecipate dal gruppo Dallah Albaraka
siano state utilizzate da Osama Bin Laden
per muovere i suoi capitali . Sara'
vero ? Alla CIA l' ardua risposta .
Ma arriva subito la durissima
smentita dai vertici del gruppo
Dallah Albaraka .

E jeri , sul Corriere della Sera ,
l ' intervista di Sua Altezza il
Principe Mohammed Al Faisal Al Saud .
Difende sdegnato la correttezza della
Finanza Islamica . A Roma il pezzo del
WSJ non passa inosservato ( anche
perche' lo rilancia immediatamente
l' ANSA con un take delle 20 .13 ).
Alla RAI qualcuno si spaventa , perche'
il gruppo Dallah Albaraka e' socio
( partner commerciale ? referente
d' affari? ) comunque " distributore
in esclusiva " , questo si', d' un
prodotto fondamentale dell' Azienda
televisiva di Stato .

Piu' precisamente : nel 1995 Dallah
Albaraka ha firmato un
contratto con la RAI . Consente alla
Società ' Araba di distribuire nei
Continenti dove c' e' forte emigrazione
Italiana il segnale TV di Rai International.
In altre parole , Dallah Albaraka porta
sulle tv della maggioranza degl' Italiani
all' estero il ( cosi'detto ) `' meglio `'
della produzione nazionale : dalla Carra' al
`' Medico di famiglia `', passando per i TG ,
i Porta a Porta , e
tutta l' autoproduzione RAI .

Questo accordo ( dei dettagli parleremo piu'
avanti ) , in esclusiva per 10 anni , a costo
zero per gli Arabi , prevede guadagni esigui
perla Rai , d' incerta riscossione ; tant' e'
che , forse per prender le distanze dai
partners , la Rai afferma nel suo comunicato
del 9 Novembre 2001 : `' Negli anni si e'
aperto un contenzioso che ha obbligata la RAI
a chiedere la risoluzione del contratto , e
in merito e' in corso un arbitrato presso la
Camera Internazionale Arbitrato di Roma `'.

In viale Mazzini qualcuno riassume le cose
con poche parole : `' In buona sostanza ,
nel 1995 , la Rai ha dati in ostaggio i suoi
programmmi adatti alla diffusione
internazionale , in cambio di promesse che
gli Arabi han mantenute per dir cosi' '' con
molta parsimonia ''. Insomma , una brutta
matassa . Che il ceto dirigente dell'
Azienda di Viale Mazzini non riesce mai a
sbrogliare `' .



*** CAF Per cercar di capire come sono andate
le cose bisogna fare un passo indietro alla
fine degli anni '80-inizio '90. Il periodo
lo ricorderete: Bettino Craxi è il segretario
padrone del PSI, e loscenario politico I TAL
YAno e' dominato dal trio Craxi Andreotti
Forlani. CAF. Presidente della RAI e' Enrico
Manca , jeri grande sponsor della Umbria
Fiction, oggi grande organizzatore di
qualsiasi convegno sui media, nel suo attuale
ruolo di Presidente dell' ISIMM, Istituto per
lo studio dell' innovazione dei media e della
multimedialita'. Manca sostiene, sponsorizza
e promuove in quei giorni lontani la nascita
di una societa', chiamata `' RAI AMERICA `' ,
il cui compito e' far si' che anche le
Comunita' I TAL YAne nel continente Americano
possano vedere la tv prodotta nella Madre
Patria .
In realta' la tecnologia dell' epoca consente
soltanto diraggiungere, con il segnale Rai,
la costa Orientale del Nord e Sud America. Ma
intanto si dia inizio alle danze, e poi si
vedra'.
Il segnale televisivo Italiano varchera'
l' Oceano grazie a uno dei satelliti della
flotta INTELSAT, e una parte degl' I TAL YAni
nelle Americhe sara' piu' felice. Soprattutto
perche' - si sa - vogliono assistere al Piu'
Grande Campionato Del Mondo, e per
ottenerlo sono pronti a tutto, o quasi.

Naturalmente , per cominciare , dovran
comprarsi una parabola di adeguate
dimensioni, e una tv adatta. Ma a venderle
loro - e a caro prezzo - pensera' un' altra
societa', con sede in Svizzera . E' un' altra
storia questa ? Fin dall' inizio le cose non
si mettonobene. Nel Nord America la Tv I TAL
YAna si vede , ma cosi' cosi' . In Sud
America poco o niente. Gl' Italiani che han
comprati le parabola e il televisore
giustamente s' incazzano, e protestano. Vuoi
vedere che e' un bidone ? I responsabili
delle Comunita' I TAL Yane all' estero
rumoreggiano, e qualche eco alla Farnesina
arriva ... Fatto sta : l' operazione s'
incaglia, daipunti di vista sia politico ,
sia economico. Nel frattempo pero' ,
poiche' il segnale televisivo si continua a
trasmettere, continuaa scattare anche il
tassametro del satellite , e i costi
finiscono per appesantire i bilanci della
Rai. Sono bei miliardi da pagare. Insomma,
un flop. Nel frattempo siamo arrivati al
1992 . MARIO CHIESA vuota il sacco , con
Nini' Di Pietro . Tangentopoli ( la guerra
civile fra magistrati e politici , direbbe
Berlusconi ) e' agl' inizj. Il CAF
sprofonda veloce , e Bettino Craxi
comincia realisticamente a temere che il
futuro non gli riservera' piu' gloria
niuna. Male che vada ( e cosi' purtroppo
per lui andra' ) c' e' sempre la casa di
HAMMANET ( dove il leader socialista
trascorrera' gli ultimi anni in
latitanza ) e un buon rapporto col
Governo tunisino , pronto a presidiare
la sua villa con una guardiamilitare .
Gia', in fondo non ci siamo mai chiesti
perche' la villadi Bettino Craxi fosse
sorvegliata dai soldati Tunisini .

In fondo poteva bastare un' auto della
Polizia, come si fa da noi
con un ospite di riguardo . Bah ...

***IL BANCHIERE PIU' IMPORTANTE DEL
PIANETA . REGNO UNITO E FRANCIA GLISSANO,
INVECE L' ITALIA NON DECLINA .

Guarda caso pero', proprio un Tunisino
fara' intravedere a Enrico Manca e al suo
successore, il Socialista Walter Pedulla'
( diventa presidente della Rai nel
Febbrajo 1992 ) la soluzione del bubbone
Rai America , che produce solo debiti e
conti da pagare . Si tratta di Mister
Tarak Ben Ammar , nipote dell' ex Premier
Tunisino Habib Burghiba ( appassionato di
antenne, negli anni Quaranta trasmetteva
da Radio BARI – NdT MOLCA ) , brillante
cineasta. Tra l' altro ha prodotto
" Pirati " con Roman Polanski .
Personaggio del bel mondo internazionale;
e soprattutto uomo di fiducia del Principe
Saudita Al Walid , o Al Waleed Bin Talal ,
stella di prima grandezza nel firmamento
finanziario Saudita.

Il Principe Al Waleed e' un tipo con una
sacco di petrolgrana da spendere e
investire nel Globo . E' in splendidi
rapporti con la famigia Bush , e' stato
il responsabile della Difesa del Kuwait
durante la guerra del Golfo , si e' gia'
comprato il 10 % delle azioni della
CITIBANK , che lo rende il piu'
importante banchiere del Pianeta .
Soprattutto e' il rampollo della
Famiglia Al Saud incaricato di investire
nei media . Proprio in quel periodo i
Sauditi sono in cerca di sedi in Europa
da cui trasmettere i segnali TV di due
emittenti verso i Paesi Islamici .

Le tv si chiamano ORBI e ART (Arab Radio
Television) . La ART fa capo alla Societa'
Dallah Albaraka, governata dallo sceicco
Saleh Kamel. Interpellati, sia gl' Inglesi
che i Francesi declinano le offerte Saudite.
Han paura diconcedere sul loro territorio
l' uso d' impianti di trasmissione agli
Arabi . Temono complicazioni dicarattere
politico - religioso . E se poi qualche
setta integralista non gradisce ? C' e'
il pericolo che qualche esaltato se la
prenda con gl' impianti di tele
trasmissione. Meglio glissare ... Timori
non infondati come dimostrano gli
avvenimenti degli ultimi mesi .
In I TAL YA invece i Sauditi ,
rappresentati da Tarak Ben Ammar,
trovano buona accoglienza .
Tarak Ben Ammar e' un tipo bene
introdotto negli ambienti giusti . E'
amico dei Craxi , cosa che non guasta .
Fatto sta , l' allora amministratore
delegato di TELESPAZIO , Raffaele
Minicucci, offre agl' imprenditori Sauditi
la possibilita' di trasmettere i segnali
di ORBIT e ART dagl' impianti della
Telespazio situati nel Bacino del Fucino.
Affare fatto . E' l' ingresso degli Arabi
nell' etere nazionale Italiano.

**** IL SANGUE DELL ' INTER COMINCIA
A MILANIZZARSI

Siamo arrivati al '93 - 94 . Il bubbone di
Rai America continua a produrre buchi nel
bilancio . Manco la gestione dei
`' professori `' ( Claudio De Matte'
presidente , e Gianni Locatelli Direttore
Generale ) riesce a uscirne in qualche modo .
Primavera 1994: Silvio Berlusconi vince le
elezioni . Presidente della Rai diventa l'
attuale Ministro dell' Istruzione , Letizia
Moratti . E' proprio la Letty ( affiancata
dal Direttore Generale Rai , che nel
frattempo e' diventato proprio Raffaele
Minicucci ) a firmare , nel 1995, il
contratto . Leghera' la Rai alla Societa'
Saudita Dallah Albaraka .

La Moratti, va concesso, da' soltanto corso
con la sua firma a un accordo preparato dai
suoi predecessori / successori . Ma il
sangue dell' INTER va milanizzandosi . In
virtu' di questo accordo, alla Dallah
Albaraka viene concessa l' esclusiva A
COSTO ZERO della distribuzione IN QUASI
TUTTO IL GLOBO del segnale della vecchia
Rai America , nel frattempo divenuta
RAI INTERnational .

Ma ... La rete televisiva ORBIT continua
serenamente a trasmettere da Telespazio.
La rete ART diventera' , nella strategia
di DallahAlbaraka , una sorta di BBC World
Service Araba , e trasmettera' in tutto il
Cosmo , cercando ospitalita' sui satelliti
a diffusione diretta e negli operatori via
cavo .

La disponibilita' del segnale Italiano di
RAI MILAN NATIONAL servira' anche a rendere
piu' vendibili, agli operatori via cavo, i
programmi Arabi . L' idea dei Sauditi
infatti e' vendere `' un pacchetto `' : se
tu, operatore via cavo, vuoi comprarti Rai
International, ti becchi anche la Araba ART
e la diffondi. In sostanza, RAI ARCORE
INTERNATIONAL verrebbe in questo modo usata
come specchio per le allodole per aprire la
strada alla diffusione della tv Araba .

L' obiettivo dei Sauditi sembra chiaro:
acquisire, a livello planetario, massima
visibilita', anche grazie al traino dei
programmi televisivi Italiani. In cambio
dell' esclusiva per ladistribuzione del
segnale di Rai International, i Sauditi
si beccano pero' tutto il malloppo di
Rai America, debiti compresi, e s'
impegnano, dopo soltanto tre anni di
esercizio, a versare alla Rai un po' di
royalties. Sono mai arrivate le royalties?
Chissa'? Riassumendo: oggi , mentre
scriviamo, Novembre 2001 , e fino al 2004,
Dallah Albaraka e' titolare dei diritti
di trasmissione in gran parte del Mondo
( Asia esclusa ) dei programmi diffusi
da Rai International.


**** UNA FETTA AI CRACK SI ' ; UNA FETTA
AGLI ARRAFFATTORI ; UNA AL CAVAL LETTA JERE,

per prospettargli altri investimenti possibili
nel nostro Paese . Di Tarek Ben Ammar
ricorderemo : oltre a essere l' uomo del
Principe Al Waleed nel consiglio di
amministrazione di Mediaset , ha avuto un ruolo
saporito in uno dei processi in cui Silvio
Berlusconi e' tuttora imputato : il caso
All Iberian .
Avete il mal di testa eh ? Eh si', la storia
e' un po' tortuosa, ma vale la pena di
concentrarci ancora un po' . Il processo All
Iberian , come i cronisti giudiziarj ben sanno
( ma li invitamo a scriverci dettagli che
sicuramente abbiam tralasciati ) , riguarda
una societa' off - shore , la All Iberian ,
appunto , che , secondo i Magistrati del pool
di MILAN NO , sarebbe la cassaforte estera
attraverso la quale il nostro attuale
Presidente del Consiglio Silvio Berlusconi
avrebbe compiuta una serie di operazioni
illegali.

In particolare , Silvio Berlusconi e' stato
accusato in primo luogo d ' aver finanziato
illegalmente il PSI dei Craxi con £it VENTIDUE
MILIARDI transitati dai conti della All
Iberian a conti correnti nella disponibilita'
di Bobottino Berlusconi . Per questo reato e'
stato dichiarato non punibile GRAZIE ALLA
PRESCRIZIONE DEL REATO .

A tentar di dare una mano ai Berlusconi e ai
Craxi , nel primo processo All Iberian , ci
ha provato proprio Tarak Ben Ammar . Il
quale , in alcune interviste , ha sostenuto
che quei 22 Miiardi di £irette Berlusconi li
doveva a lui in ragione di una banalissima
transazione di affari : `' Sono stato me a
chiedere a Berlusconi di versarli su un conto
particolare . Berlusconi non sapeva che quel
conto fosse riconducibile ai Craxi . I soldi
comunque - ha spiegato Ben Ammar - dovevan poi
esser girati dai Craxi all ' Organizzazione
per la liberazione della Palestina,
l' OLP . `' .

Convocato due volte dai Magistrati di MILAN NO
che volevano ascoltarlo come teste , Tarak Ben
Ammar ha pensato bene di non presentarsi .
Quanto ai conti della FINI nvest, non c' e'
traccia dell' operazione contabile.

Eppure minga di bruscolini trattasi . Piccolo
riepilogo : l ' attuale Presidente del Consiglio
Silvio Berlusconi avrebbe pagati 22Miliardi
( minga di €uro , soltanto di vecchie £irette
Italiane ) a Tarak Ben Ammar , ignaro del fatto
che sarebbero stati passati al PSI dei Craxi
esponenti di punta della politica Italiana ,
i quali con quei miliardi avrebbero finanziata
l ' OLP degli Arraffat .

Ma il processo All Iberian ora ( nel 2001 ) SEGUE
ANCHE UN ALTRO FILONE . Dai conti della Societa'
off - shore di Berlusconi sarebbero usciti , non
soltanto quei 22 miliardi, ma molte altre decine,
anzi centinaja , utilizzati , sempre secondo il
pool di MILAN NO, per operazioni di varia natura,
come scalate in Borsa di societa' quotate ;
corruzione di Giudici ; e simili piacevolezze .
Questi miliardi a centinaja , secondo l' accusa,
sarebbero stati fatti sparire dai bilanci della
FINInvest. E infatti , nel processo All Iberian
tuttora in corso , Silvio Berlusconi e' imputato
di falso in bilancio . `' Avrebbe `' truccati i
conti della Fininvest per far uscire all' estero
tutti quei bei soldoni . Ma ora ( 2001 ) come
sapete il Governo Berlusconi ha modificata la
fattispecie di reato di falso in bilancio .
Secondo la nuova legge , si tratta di un reato
pel quale proceder puossi solamente su
querela di parte .

Spieghiamo meglio per i crapadura : perche'
si possa processare Berlusconi
la Fininvest dovrebbe querelarlo . Cioe' ,
Berlusconi dovrebbe denunciar se stesso .

On Israel and the Palestinians

-There was so much to tell this week .
The death of Leah Rabin a year after she
publicly demanded a reinvestigation
of her husband' s murder .

The suspicious silence of her two children
this year about their Father' s equally
suspicious demise . The dragging out of a
beaten, drugged , threatened Yigal Amir to
once again confess before the
cameras of Channel Two .

The use of Channel Two hostess Ilana Dayan
as a conduit of disinformation for the
Shabak . And then there was the truth that
the media exposed . Hatsofe tore apart the
lies in Carmi Gillon' s book and wrote that
he was covering up his own crimes. The same
'' Hatsofe' '' finally publishing suspicions
of Shimon Peres' involvement in Rabin's
murder .
Tel Aviv Magazine' s interview with Eyal
Shomroni Cohen , the recently fired attorney
for the Shabak provocateur Avishai Raviv ,
revealing that he had seen the cut 30 seconds
of the assassination film and what it
revealed, " would shock the nation . " .
Yoav Yitzhaki in Maariv exposing the
collaboration between the police ,
prosecution and Channel One in the
destruction of the incriminating Avishai
Raviv initiation ceremony film . Maariv ' s

But all that has been swept under the carpet
by the PLO ' s murders of innocents . Two
weeks ago , the respected political site
Rumors OfWar asked me to begin an on - line
debate with Arab analysts . I never debate
Arabs because I feel their point of view on
all matters relevant to me is baseless and
prejudiced . I agreed to begin such a debate
if I could choose the topic one , which for
once , an Israeli doesn' t haveto begin with
on the defensive .

My subject for debate was: Do The
Palestinians Deserve a State ? After two
weeks , no one has bothered to joinin the
debate . So here are the major points,
which were never discussed on Rumors Of
War : There was never an independent Arab
state called Palestine . At best, Palestine
was a backwoods Turkish province . Hence ,
there were no pilgrimages to the " holy "
Al Aqsa mosque . Jerusalem is not the
third holiest site of Islam . Mecca and
Medina are holy ; Jerusalem was never
mentioned in the same breath until the
liberation of the Temple Mount by the
Israelis in 1967 .

The Palestinians and their political
leadership bring war and
instability to wherever they reside,
be it Jordan, Lebanon or in the very
territories Israel recently handed
over to them . No one wants them as
neighbors because they are too
egotistical , hotheaded , selfish
and immature o qualify as a responsible
nation . And no one would sign a
meaningful agreement with any Palestinian
leader because agreements are
always broken .

Israel learned the hard way, that the PLO's
diplomats have no ethics and lie with
impunity. They will always be diplomats of a
terror organization , never of a nation ,
because nations must abide by their
commitments . There is no hope of the
Palestinians ever honestly electing their
leaders . At best, this ragtag collection of
Middle Eastern peoples will accept whatever
tyrant proves the most inscrutable
and leads their tribe after Arafat.The
Palestinians send their children
to their deaths to make media propaganda
points . Real nations care about their young.
The PLO and its allied Islamic organizations
practice child sacrifice under the guise
of martyrdom .

The PLO has no morals , national or otherwise.
Their sole motivation is to instill hate from
one generation to the next .
The PLO has brought nothing but misery to its
followers . The Palestinians know nothing of
the creation of beauty , engage in no serious
scholarship , and pass nothing of greatness
down the ages .
Their legacy is purely of destruction .
The Palestinian leaders and
their factotums are totally corrupt ,
stealing every penny of public
money they can lay their hands on . No one
seriously accepts that financial aid will
actually reach the people. And no one will make
a business investment in the Palestinians
because of the payoffsand bribes involved
in setting up shop .

And for what ? A business that will be shut
down or destroyed by terrorism and civil war?
The PLO ' s strong - arm tactics have brought
in just enough protection money to buy arms
and pay the militias, but not enough honest
funds to initiate a prosperous nation. The PLO
and its police torture people they don' t like.
They execute people without due process of law.
Whatever Palestinian courts do exist, none
do so to protect the rights of the accused .
The PLO will not tolerate free expression .
Arrests and torture journalists who criticize
the regime. The PLO offers no rights to women.
Only among its followers in the Christian
community , can women receive higher education
and responsible jobs . There is no Palestinian
language.
There is no Palestinian religion .

Jerusalem is never mentioned in the Koran.
Mohammed never claimed he was in Jerusalem.
The Al Aqsa Mosque and Shrine of Omar are
builtatop the ancient Jewish temples . The
Jews held sovereignty over Jerusalem for
1300 years ; the Arabs , a mere fraction of
the time . There was never an Arab
Palestinian nationalist movement until
1964 . The majority of " Palestinians "
according to British demographic surveys
arrived in Israel after 1917 , seeking
economic opportunities .

No one is offering to compensate the
700,000 Sephardic Jews whose assets were
stolen when they were forced out of Arab
countries in the 40s and 50s. Israel took
in their refugees, the Arabs kept their
500,000 in camps. The Palestinians
already have a nation, Jordan.
There, the indigenous majority is ruled
by Bedouin royalty from Saudi Arabia.

The Jordanians had control of the West Bank
from 1948 to 1967 and never once offered it
as a Palestinian state. Why not? The
Egyptians held the Gaza Strip for much
longer.
Why didn't they create a Palestinian
state if there were Palestinian people living
there ? There is no ancient Palestinian
history. There are no world renowned Palestinian
artists, scientists, not one Palestinian
literary masterpiece, no recognizable culture,
no inventions...
nothing that distinguishes Palestinians as a
people. They are neither a unique people,
nor a separate people with their own
history. The Palestinians do not deserve a
nation because they arenot a nation. Period.

with a Palestinian state when it is founded `'.

The PLO representative in the Vatican stated:
`' This is an historical covenant `'.

According to the Temple Mount Faithful :
"It is no accident that this covenant was
signed one month before the Pope's visit to
Israel. The agreement is part of the
long-term policy of the Vatican against
Israel ever since the State of Israel was
founded .
This is a continuation of the historical
hostility of the Vatican against the Jewish
people ...
" The traditional anti-Israeli position
of both these sides created this
covenant against the God and people of
Israel. They joined forces against Israel
and Jerusalem as the godly eternal capital
of Israel. Yesterday's picture of the
terrorist Yasser Arafat kissing the hand
of the Pope after the signing of the
covenant, showed an unholy and hypocritical
covenant between a mass-murderer and a Pope
who the Vatican says is holy. How could
the Pope allow this hand which is full of
Jewish blood to hold his hand and kiss it ?
More than being a covenant between two
lovers, this was a covenant of hate against

Pope issues forceful appeal for end to
Middle East bloodshed.

Pope John Paul II issued his most forceful
condemnation yet of the nearly two-year
conflict in the Middle East and urged the
international community to do more to end
the bloodshed.

"When will one learn that co-existence
between the Israeli and Palestinian
people cannot result from arms.
Neither attacks, nor the walls of
separation, nor retaliation, will lead to
a just solutionto the conflict "
he said in an address to pilgrims at his
summer residence in Castel Gandolfo near Rome.
He said the international community should
commit itself to " taking a more determined
role on the ground, offering mediation to
create the conditions for a fruitful dialogue
between the two sides to accelerate the peace
process. "

The Pope also appealed to both Israeli and
Palestinian leaders to return to the path
of " loyal negotiation " to end fighting
that has cost the lives of almost 2,440
people, most of them Palestinians .

" No matter what ethnic group they belong to ,
no- one has the right to kill defenseless
civilians in an indiscriminate way, " he
said. The ailing pontiff visited the Holy
Land several months before the eruption of
the Palestinian intifada or uprising in
September 2000, which has left the peace
process in tatters. On Sunday, he spoke
of his personal anguish over the suffering
of both the Palestinians who he said were
subject to virtual " collective
punishment " and Israelis who live " in
daily terror of being the
target of anonymous attacks. " He also
highlighted the suffering of
Palestinians who have been " chased from
their own land, or forced
in recent times to live in a permanent state
of siege, the objects of virtually a
collective punishment. "
Israel, hit by waves of bombings and shooting
attacks against Israelis and Jewish settlers
living in the occupied West Bank and
Gaza Strip, has imposed crippling blockades
and rigid curfews on
Palestinians. The Pope complained that the
clampdown was preventing
people from reaching their places of worship,
a move he said
amounted to a " violation of the fundamental
right of the freedom of worship. "
Around 130,000 Christians live in Israel,
while the West Bank
his home to 25,000 Christians and the Gaza
Strip to 2,000. He urged the thousands of people
who came to hear his Sunday mass in his
summer residence outside Rome not to remain
" indifferent before
this humanitarian drama ".
" In this summer time, where many people
are enjoying a well-deserved rest, I can't
help but worry aboutthe Holy Land, where
unfortunately, nearly daily violent episodes
know no end," he said. The Pontiff called
on Christians around the World
" to unite in intense and confident prayer "
so that " the cries of those who are
suffering and dying in the Holy Land are
finally heard. "

From the BBC: Pope John Paul ll has lent
his support to the creation of an
international peacekeeping force to try to
bring an end to the Israeli - Palestinian
conflict. In one of his strongest
denunciations of the continuing violence,
the Pope said the international community
should take " a more determined role on
the ground
" to help bring about peace.
Speaking to pilgrims at his
summer residence in Castel Candolfo,
near Rome, the Pontiff called
on political leaders on both sides to seek,
what he called, " the
path of honest negotiation ".

to mention that his buddies in
the PLO had terrorized most of
the Christians from their domain.

The Christian majority of Bethlehem of
just ten years ago is a
forgotten memory. The thriving Christian
community of Jericho is all
but gone. And Jerusalem's Christians are
on their way out. A decade
of rape, armed robberies, assaults and
murders have done the job.

It is too dangerous for Christians to live in PLO -land. Meanwhile,
the Christians of Israel are safe and prospering. So why is the "
supreme protector " of Christendom signing accords with the PLO to
get the Israelis? Because, the PLO and the Muslim world are going to
do the same favor the Nazis did for them sixty years ago. Now
here' s how they are going to make Israel defenceless and not get
blamed for it. They are going to let Spain do the job for them
through the Rome - born, Jesuit-trained King Juan Carlos. King of
Jerusalem. He is the address for all major Middle Eastern diplomacy
and about no one outside this hidden world realizes it.

started a tour as from Spain and covers each of Algeria and Morocco,

Syria-Spain, Politics, 7/27/2002 Spanish King Juan Carlos I on
Friday at Lasaroilla Royal Palace in Madrid received the Syrian
foreign minister Farouk al- Shara. The meeting was attended by the
Spanish foreign minister .

Al-Shara handed the Spanish king, during the meeting, a message
from President Bashar al-Assad relating to conditions in the region
and bilateral relations between Syria and Spain. Latest regional and
international developments especially in the region were reviewed.
Al-Shara extended an invitation to the Spanish King to visit Syria
and the King promised to fulfill it at the appropriate time.
On Thursday evening the Spanish foreign minister Ana Palacio
held a work dinner banquet in honor of al-Shara, during which the
two ministers reviewed conditions in the region and reasons behind
their deterioration. Al-Shara explained that no solution in the
region can be maintained except by ending the Israeli occupation
according to international legitimacy resolutions, noting that
Israel' s answer to the Arab initiative adopted at Beirut summit,
its invasion of the Palestinian cities and towns, and continued
policy of repression and assassination, as well as its continued
defiance of the international will, all prove that Israel has no
desire for peace and is not ready to abide by its requirements.
Al-Shara also reviewed with his Spanish peer relations between
Syria and Spain and decided to strengthen them through taking active
steps that ensure the implementation of what was agreed upon during
President al-Assad's visit to Spain in 2001.
